What A Girl Wants Fashion Show Breakdown

Last week I had the priveledge of styling St Laurent Centre’s holiday fashion show at the What A Girl Wants Gala in downtown Ottawa. I did a twelve looks, all inspired by the holiday season. Over the next several weeks, I’m going to breakdown where to get the looks!

Black & Gold

Gold always reads holiday, especially when it’s in the form of sequins! Update your classic black blouse with a chunky knit and pair it with a sequin mini skirt to really add some spunk! Finish the look with a glittery shoe like these beauties.

Silver City

Tonal dressing has been a big trend over the past year, so why not try it out for your holiday parties? I love mixing different textures when doing all one colour, which is exactly what I did with this look from Joe Fresh and Aldo!

Pretty in Plaid

Just because fall has come and gone, doesn’t mean you have to put away the prints! Black and red plaid is a great launching pad to create a holiday look. Complete it with a fabulous tie-front jacket (with a hood I might add) and some suede, bold pumps.

Rudolf Red

There’s nothing more perfect for family get-togethers around the holidays than a warm and cozy cardigan. Mix printed with checks and plaid for a fashion-forward holiday look. Polish the look with some black leather boots and bold red khaki’s!

Tuxedo Time!

That’s right, it’s gala season… which means it’s time to rent that tux yet again! For just over $200, you can rent one from Tip Top Tailors. Colour, shape, and size are all at your disposal to make it your own. I recommend a classic 3-piece tux with a bowtie to really standout during this special season.

The End

This fall runways saw a lot of casual meets high-glam. So I thought, wouldn’t it be perfect to mix the two for the holiday season? In this look I paired an oversized grey sweatshirt with a silver sequin skirt. To emulate this trend fully, I finished the outfit with a knit accessories and jewelled booties.
