Berry Unexpected: One Blazer, Two Ways

As part of the latest campaign, St Laurent and I wanted to show you how to wear the key investment pieces for fall, 3 ways. This week I wanted to build on the winter-white tuxedo blazer, showing how you can wear it to the office, or casually on the weekend. If you’re going to wear white after Labor Day, ensure you’re adding fall colours like warm berry’s (see left) and rich mustard’s (see right).

Grabbing a blazer for work is almost second nature, so I wanted to show you how to put a twist on a classic look. Look for a neutral blazer because it’s easy to build on (which is why I chose the winter-white). Then go for colours and tones that work well together, like bubblegum pink and purple berry. Break up the colours with other neutrals like gold jewellery, dark Merlot, deep browns and beige. Don’t try to be matchy matchy, instead focus more on the same colour family. This look incorporated several colours in brown and berry, which is why it’s fashion-forward without being over-the-top.

Layering is key this season, so don’t be afraid to try a sweater under your blazer for work; saves you from needing a coat!

An easy way to keep this blazer casual is by adding a stretch denim and flats. A big fall trend is putting various patterns into one look. In our dressed-down look, we have four different patterns: zebra (shoes), stripes (sweater), polka dots (sleeveless blouse) and leopard (skinny belt). The biggest rule in trying this out is ensuring every pattern has one colour that is the same throughout. In this case it was black and beige (neutrals are often the easiest to match up).

It’s not just about the necklace this season – the newest way to accessorize is throwing on several of your favorite bracelets on either one or both wrists. Not only does it look great, it’s an easy way to add colour – here we did brass, mustard yellow, gold, and black bracelets to balance out the rest of the outfit.
